| All
pools in this country need to have some form of a cover, mainly for heat
retention purposes, preventing water evaporation, chemical loss and to
keep debris out of the pool. Traditionally a Solar Blanket and a Winter
Debris Cover are used to do this. Both covers require them to be put on
and off the pool manually, which can be a cumbersome and difficult task,
and requires two people on larger size pools. With an Aquamatic swimming
pool safety cover all you need is one cover and the turn of a key!
Safety must be of paramount importance when considering purchasing or
inheriting a swimming pool, especially where children (and pets) are
concerned. Purchasing an Aquamatic Safety Cover will alleviate all these
concerns knowing that once the pool is covered nothing can enter the
pool unless you turn the key. |

 |
- The Aquamatic cover is
driven by hydraulic fluid not electricity. On the surface, most pool
covers look similar but the most important part of any pool cover is the
drive mechanism. In choosing Aquamatic you have chosen the unique patented
hydraulic fluid drive system that offers you trouble free maintenance,
increased power performance and is designed to last a lifetime.
- Any domestic size or
shaped pool can be covered.
- Aquamatic is a most
versatile cover, enabling you to house the cover either above or below
ground with a combination of three different types of track; flush,
surface and inwall track.
- Combined with a cover
pump it is the only cover to have a built in rainwater removal system.
- An ingenious trouble
free patent slider system combined with a compensator ensures that the
cover closes square every time.
- No electrics are
required near the pool. The powerpack (an electrically driven hydraulic
pump) can be placed in a remote area up to 100’ away.
- Dramatically reduces
chemical requirement up to 50% and water loss by evaporation up to 95%.
- A cover that will turn
your pool into a large passive solar collector that will raise the water
temperature 6 to 10 degrees on average.
- Pressure relief valves
ensures that the cover stops on meeting an obstruction when closing the
pool.
- Six different colour
fabrics available from stock, at no extra charge.
- Over 20,000 covers sold
worldwide.
- One of the quickest
operational covers on the market.
- 20 year limited warranty
on drive mechanism.
Aquamatic cannot guarantee
that your pool is a 100% safe, no cover system can. Although Aquamatic is a
proven and tried system, it still relies on the home owner to keep the pool
covered when not in use. As any parent will tell you, having children at
whatever age or however well disciplined they are, or as vigilant as you are
as a parent, you can never guarantee their safety or prevent an accident
from occurring.
Installing an Aquamatic
cover will give you an added safety factor and minimise the risk that
owning a pool can have in endangering the lives of family and friends. If
you decide to purchase a safety cover, please bear in mind that although the
Aquamatic Cover System can sustain the weight of many people, it is not a
toy. Children or Adults should never be enticed to walk or play on a cover.
How the Aquamatic Cover
Works

A PVC reinforced fabric is attached to an
aluminium leading edge bar that spans the width of the pool. A unique
'Slider' mechanism is attached to the leading edge and this slides through
aluminium tracking placed either side of the pool.
A marine quality nylon cable cord is also
attached to the fabric and threads up and down the tracks onto a 'Drive
Mechanism', which activates a pair of cast aluminium reels. The Drive
Mechanism is operated by a key operated switch. The cast aluminium reels
wind up the nylon cables which pulls the fabric through the tracking to
close the cover.
To remove the cover the Drive Mechanism
simply activates the 'Roller Tube', this winds up the fabric on to the tube
just like a conventional reel system used for Solar Covers.
What 'Powers' the Drive Mechanism? A
'Powerpack' hydraulic pump that pumps hydraulic oil through two 3/8" (9mm)
hoses which are connected to TWO hydraulic motors via a
reverse flow manifold.
Each motor independently activates either
the 'Reel System' or the 'Roller Tube' mentioned above.
There is no electrical supply
required to power the drive mechanism. Therefore, in the event that the pit
housing is flooded, there will be no costly repair bills as all the
components in the pit area are unaffected by water.
Alternative Installation
Methods
The Aquamatic Safety Cover can be applied
to any domestic pool size or shape. By offering a choice of above or below
surface mounting it offers the customer the choice of either a cover which
disappears into a surface mounted cabinet with no disruption to existing
paving; or, by making a pit construction, allows for the cover to be stored
below deck level.
There are three basic types of tracking
available, one fitting on top of the surrounding edge, one fitting flush and
one to fit completely out of sight under the pool copings.
With six different fabric colours
available to choose from at no extra cost and various installation
combinations 'every pool is catered for' .
Above
Ground Installation
An Above Ground Installation is ideal for
situations where the surrounding deck area, e.g. paving, is not to be
disturbed and saves on the inconvenience and added expense of not having to
build a below ground pit housing.
The cover can be retracted
into either a flush or surface mounted tracking into an above ground housing
that is fixed to the surface of the surrounding deck area (a good solid base
is required).
A Polymer housing cabinet is available from Aquamatic to house the cover
system. The housing is manufactured using 100% virgin, high impact,
polystyrene Resin which is available in six different colours. Polymer
cabinets are very durable, light weight, and require no maintenance. They
are also very easy to construct and can take the weight of several people.
Alternatively, the cabinet
housing can be made out of a timber construction by a skilled tradesman
(special bench support brackets can be provided for this purpose).
Top & Flush Tracking
This
method of installation is suitable for new or existing pools - Top & Flush
Tracking.
The cover is retracted
through either flush or surface mounted tracking into a storage pit, below
deck level. Pit construction (13"/330 mm wide) is made either using
concrete blocks or a fibre glass shell, no RSJ lintel is required. A
Polymer Lid or Timber Deck housing lid is supplied as standard.
Polymer Lids
are available in six different colours; Charcoal grey, Battleship grey,
Terracotta, Brown, Buff and Off white. Polymer lids are manufactured from
100% virgin, high impact, Polystyrene Resin. There is no maintenance
required with this lid system.
Timber Deck Lids are
made from a treated (tanalised) 17mm Redwood Pine and have a life expectancy
of approximately 20 years. All Timber lids are supplied in their natural
colour (slightly greenish in colour, due to the tanalised treatment) , it is
recommended that a colour stain is applied to match the surrounding deck
areas.
Stainless Steel
Pans are available to enable you to use the surrounding deck materials
e.g. 'floor tiles' or paving. Please note:- a maximum paving/tile depth of
20mm can only be used on this system.
* Stainless steel lid
systems are at an additional cost.
IMPORTANT NOTE. The
3.5" Dia. Leading Edge Bar does not enter pit housing. All AQM covers
must have a leading edge bar to act as a support. The ASTM safety standards
also state 'the fabric cover, when in a closed position, must not be able to
be lifted by more than 1"'.
Inwall Tracking
This method of
installation is suitable for new LINER OR CONCRETE, rectangular shaped pools
only. Inwall tracking is available for existing pools, if the pool and
decking surround are to be refurbished.
Inwall Tracking enables you
to conceal the tracking extrusion within the parameters of the pool wall.
The cover is retracted through the inwall tracks and enters the pit housing
over the pool wall structure, not the coping edge. With this method of
installation, the Leading Edge Bar is also less obtrusive, as the bar comes
to rest against the pit housing lid!
Inwall track installations
also require very limited maintenance as the track extrusion is flush with
the pool wall therefore limiting the amount of debris that can enter. 95% of
the cover is also in contact with the water, thus reducing wear and tear on
the slider mechanisms.
There are three types of
pit housing lids available, Polymer, Timber and Paving/Tile.
Alternative Tracks & Installation Methods
As you have seen from the
previous pages Aquamatic offer a range of cover systems to suit every pool.
Listed below, isa range of alternative tracks available for these systems.
All tracks are extruded from anodised aluminium and can withstand all
weather conditions. *Advise your dealer if tracks are to be installed
near salt water.
Top Track
With
its smooth contour and elegant lines the Top Track offers you the facility
of a cover system on any shape pool. Top Track is placed on the surface of
the surrounding deck area, adjacent to the pool, or preferably, on the pool
coping edge stones.
The smooth contour design
alleviates tripping and toe stubbing hazards!
Flush Track

Flush Track can also be
installed on new, existing pools or shaped pools. This track extrusion is
designed to be installed flush with either the paving surround or coping
edge stones.
Exclusively designed for Aquamatic our Flush Track Receptor Stones are for
installation on new or existing pools. They enable the pool builder to
install a pre-fabricated stone that has been designed to receive the Flush
Tracking. Installing the receptor stones ensure that correct alignment and
exact fit is achieved.
Flush Track Receptor Stones
are available from stock in standard paving colours:- Buff, Grey,
Terracotta, York Brown and White to match Coping Stones. Track Stones can
also be colour matched to match your paving colours.*Custom made colours
are a free of charge service! Allow 2-3 weeks for manufacture.
Groove Coping Stones (9"
and 12")
Almost every outdoor swimming pool that is built in this country has either
9"or 12" white coping stones.
Again, exclusively designed
for Aquamatic, Groove Coping Stones replace the ordinary coping that are
normally supplied with a pool kit. Groove Coping has a pre-formed gully
built into the front edge of the coping that receives the flush track.
Instead of having to place the track behind the coping, the track is now
installed at the front edge of the coping.
The main benefit to of
using the Groove Coping system, is that 95% of the cover material is in
contact with the water. Having more of the fabric material in contact with
the water will result in less friction therefore, less wear & tear, quicker
opening and closing times.
The other benefits to
consider are:- 1. There is no extra work for the pool installer to do, as he
would of have to lay coping stones anyway! 2. There is no requirement to
purchase the Trackstones!
Groove Coping is a stock
item and white in colour. Coping can be colour matched to your paving
colours. *Surcharge applicable to custom made colours, allow 3 weeks for
manufacture.
If you are considering
replacing your existing coping for new Groove Copings please bear in mind,
most conventional coping are 2.5" thick at the front edge and taper down to
1.5" at the back edge. Groove Coping maintain the same depth (2") throughout
the stone therefore, the new Groove Coping may be 0.5" higher than your
existing paving levels (consult your pool dealer for advice, as a tile
adhesive may be used to help reduce coping height).
Concrete InWall Track
Designed
by Aquamatic, Concrete Inwall Tracking is ideal for indoor and outdoor pool
installations. The tracking is installed at the time of the pool
construction on top of the pool wall. Copings or tiles are placed directly
on top of the track receptor.
Liner Inwall Track
Designed
by Aquamatic, Liner Inwall Tracking is ideal for indoor and outdoor pool
installations. The tracking is installed at the time of the pool
construction on top of the pool wall/panel. The track extrusion is also
placed along the width of the pool at the non-pit end (this is for a
cosmetic finish only).
34mm Stone Lid Adaptor
Extrusion
Stone Lid Adaptor Extrusion is designed for an Aquamatic installation where
a 2"/50mm stone pit housing lid is required. All pit housing lids have a
maximum lid depth of 20mm.
The Stone Lid Adaptor
Extrusion increases the height tolerance above the Inwall Track Receptor to
enable a lid depth of up to 2"/50mm.
Coping/Paving could be used
for the pit housing lid on either a concrete or liner pool.
Note. Increasing the lid
depth using the Stone Lid Adaptor increases the 'freeboard' by 50mm. From
the top of the lid housing to the water line, the depth will be
approximately 209 - 234mm
PRICE
Due to the many different types and
installation methods of an Aquamatic system it is not possible to issue a
price list. The average price ranges from
£14,000 - £18,000 depending on size of pool
and specification.
